Rev. Kent D. Carpenter, Pastor

Rev. Kent D. Carpenter was born and raised in Camden, NJ.  He was the last of 10 children born to Joseph and Ruth Carpenter.  He was educated int eh Camden School System, graduating from Woordow Wilson High School in 1976.


He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1981.  In 1984, he began taking continuing education classes at Philadelphia College of Bible.  In 1989, he was ordained a deacon at St. John Baptist Church in Camden, NJ.  In 1993, he gave this trial sermon and was licensed to the Gospel Ministry by his pastor and mentor, Rev. Dr. Silas M. Townsend.  It was at this time that he began serving as the Minister of the Junior (Children's) Church at St. John.  In 1996, he was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Bethany Baptist Association of South Jersey.


In January of 1997, Pastor Carpenter founded the St. John Baptist Church of Haddon Township, with the blessing of Dr. Townsend and 10 dedicated saints.  While establishing St. John Baptist Church of Haddon Township, he received his BS in Urban Ministry Leadership from Geneva College (Center for Urban Theological Studies).  He received his MA in Religion from Cain University.


Pastor Carpenter married the love of his life, Patricia Y. Carpenter on June 8, 1985.  They have three children and six grandchildren.


Pastor Carpenter's now retired from the New Jersey Department of Corrections after 25 years of service.
